The countdown begins
Today, Ferrari announced the launch event for a new limited-edition special version model based on the 812 Superfast. The event will be broadcast live on the Prancing Horse’s social media networks on 5 May at 2.30 pm CEST. The Maranello-based company also released the first official images of the vehicle. The car, an extreme mid-engined V12 Berlinetta, embodies Ferrari’s sporting DNA and more than 70 years of triumphs on circuits worldwide in an ideal marriage of performance, form and function.
At its heart lies the latest evolution of Ferrari’s legendary 12-cylinder naturally aspirated engine capable of delivering 830 hp, an absolute record for a Prancing Horse road car engine. This power is combined with the latest generation dynamic controls, including an innovative independent four-wheel steering system. The car’s reduced weight, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre, is also remarkable.
Profound changes to the car’s shape have created extreme profiles never before seen on a road car: From the new front air conveyers to the replacement of the rear window with an aluminium structure (patented) which houses vortex generators, each modification is faithful to Ferrari’s philosophy that form follows function. Aluminium rear window and carbon fibre blade on the bonnet alter the car’s sense of volume compared to the 812 Superfast. While the front appears shorter, the transom is more imposing, almost horizontal.
Customers and fans of the Maranello marque now have to wait until 5 May, when Ferrari will unveil the name and technical characteristics of the car on its Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn channels.
